We have started a new after-school club for students age 13+ in the virtual world known as Teen Second Life. We are collaborating with The Schome Project, a U.K.-based group of educators and teens who have been exploring the educational potential of Teen Second Life as part of a research initiative. Watch this page for updates on our progress but also check out the Schome Park Forum and Wiki where we will be active participants as well. Our first meeting to begin work on Terrafirma went really well thanks to JPSkater and Topper who, between them both, came up with the beginning of our underground cavern and a covering for the top. We've got an underground connection now to the inland waterway, a two-cavern space, and lots more work ahead!
Our next meeting about the new build will be Wednesday, April 16th, at 3:00 pm in the Elementary Computer Lab, and inworld. See you there!
Schome Park (and US!) on T.V. in U.K.
Hey everyone,
Remember back in November when the TV crew came to Schome Park and interviewed a bunch of people? Well, the segment has been broadcast on TV in the U.K. in advance of a major international trade show on use of technology in schools. You can watch it here:
The part about Virutal Worlds starts at 3:15 into the movie (but it's all worth watching). Yes, that's our very own Darkwolf Schomer and those amazing American flag wings! If you look closely, you can see others as well, the "Team NCS" group name is clearly visible as well as avatar names.
I have to say, this came off really well. Terrific editing and soundtrack, too.
